DEVON SINCLAIRDirector/Choreographer



DEVON SINCLAIR is a Philadelphia-based Director/Choreographer, Teaching Artist, and performer. The Penn State University graduate hails from Upper Darby, PA where he found his love of musical theatre. Although last seen on the Candlelight stage as Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, this is Devon’s directorial debut for the Candlelight. His work has been seen across the Greater Philadelphia region at the Walnut Street Theatre, Broadway Theatre of Pitman, Ritz Theatre, and more! Devon brings an infectious energy and creativity to every show that raises the bar while honoring the legacy set before it. Devon is thankful to Bob for this opportunity, the staff/crew for their unrivaled support, and this dynamite cast for their consistent displays of true Black Excellence. As an artist, Devon’s visionary mindset has always prioritized our need to move forward and challenge standards that no longer serve its community. JOSHUA SOMMERVILLE A native of Gaithersburg, MD, Joshua is a singer, pianist, music director, and composer who graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Music. Joshua started his music journey at the age of 5 cultivating his skills at the piano. He began a professional career as a musician/choir director/singer at the age of 14. Throughout his musical journey, he has had the privilege of working with giants like the late Dr. Walter Turnbull (Director of the Harlem Boys Choir), Dr. Ysaye Barnwell (Grammy Award-winning Sweet Honey in the Rock), Stanley Thurston, Bill Colosimo, the late Dr. Karen Kennedy, Dr. Joyce Garrett, Stellar Award-nominated Patrick Lundy, Richard Odom, Dr. Stephen Holmes, Dr. Marco Merrick, Multi Grammy Award winner Twinkie Clark, Tony Award-winning and Grammy Award-nominated Melba Moore, and many more. He founded three semi-professional groups: His W.I.L. Community Choir, Unique Sounds of Love, and To Be Continued Youth Choir. Each group has been recognized and admired for their ability to sing multiple genres of music as well as their enticing stage presence. He also created the acclaimed workshop, How Much Do You Love It? which brings awareness, acceptance, and love to oneself, others, and the unknown. His workshop has traveled to Bermuda, Italy, Guatemala, Germany, and Africa. Joshua is the choral director at Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg. He also tours as music director for the world-renowned choreographer Rennie Harris, and actively music directs productions within the private and public school systems. He also works with the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, DC as Assistant Conductor and also conducts one of their vocal ensembles, Seasons of Love.


Lighting Designer

MATTHEW J. KATOR (Lighting Designer) is thrilled to return to Candlelight where his work was previously seen in Beehive: The 60’s Musical, Cabaret, Something’s Afoot (which didn’t get to open), Catch Me If You Can, South Pacific, Lend Me a Tenor, Curtains, Guys and Dolls, She Loves Me, Brigadoon, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. After receiving his BFA in Technical Theatre and Design from Lycoming College, Matthew went on to serve as Technical Director at the New Jersey Ballet, Quinlan Scenic Studios, Showmotion Inc., and spent nine years as Production Manager/Technical Director for Upper Darby Summer Stage/UDPAC. Currently, Matthew is serving as Department Chair of Theatre at Tower Hill School. He would like to thank his friends, family, students, colleagues and his ’accomplice’ for their continued support but especially his children for understanding what it means when Daddy has a show. “Look, I made a hat!”

JEFF REIM Jeff’s work has been seen in numerous shows including Beehive: The 60’s Musical, Cabaret, Something’s Afoot, Christmas by Candlelight, Catch Me If You Can, South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, Curtains, Brigadoon, The Drowsy Chaperone, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Camelot, Monty Python’s Spamalot, Mame, Nunsense, Steel Magnolias, How to Succeed…, Young Frankenstein, A Christmas Carol, CATS, Legally Blonde, The Producers, Anything Goes, Fiddler on the Roof and many more. Jeff has also served as Musical Director for A Chorus Line, Bye Bye Birdie, Seussical the Musical, and Grease and as Director for Cabaret, The Sound of Music, Nunsense, and The Music Man. Jeff has also been seen on stage in such roles as Sancho in Man of La Mancha and Lumiere in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. His full-time performing arts career also includes work as a composer/lyricist and commercial film/voice-over actor, among other things. Jeff is a life-long New Jersey resident where he lives with his wife Barbara and sons Benjamin and Adam.



TIMOTHY LAMONT CANNON is excited to be working with such a talented cast. When not on stage performing, you can find Timothy working away to ensure that all the actors have costumes and other character-defining accessories. Past credits include Something’s Afoot, Catch Me If You Can, South Pacific, Hairspray, Spamalot, Young Frankenstein, A Christmas Carol, Christmas by Candlelight, Gypsy, Camelot, CATS, Seussical, Joseph…. Technicolor Dreamcoat, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, 42nd Street, West Side Story, Crazy for You, The Drowsy Chaperone, Evita, Bye Bye Birdie, and Steel Magnolias. Hair, Wigs, and Makeup

CLAYTON STACEY has been makeup and hair designer or assistant for many Candlelight shows including Beehive: The 60’s Musical, Curtains, Beauty and the Beast, Camelot, Crazy for You, Arsenic and Old Lace, Mame, Driving Miss Daisy and Legally Blonde. He has also designed for WDL’s Into the Woods, City Theatre’s Xanadu and Gypsy, DAST’s Jekyll and Hyde and The Drowsy Chaperone. As a performer, he has been in Candlelight’s productions of Christmas by Candlelight, Grease (Doody), Fiddler on the Roof (2004 and 2014), Cabaret, Jesus Christ Superstar, and the Barrymore Award-nominated Chicago, to name a few, and was a producer of Candlelight’s Just Drag 14, Queens from the Crypt. AMANDA GILLIES After 40+ years as stage manager, scenic carpenter, and prop master, Amanda is so thrilled to be back to the treasure hunt, the thinking and creating, and to be back working with the wonderful Candlelight Family. Amanda, owner of Proper Place Organizing, is a professional organizer by day. Her friends and family (and acquaintances) are back to loaning their belongings!

has been the PSM at Candlelight for Beehive, Guys and Dolls, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes…, Boeing Boeing, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Beauty and the Beast, Barefoot in the Park, Christmas by Candlelight (2016 & 2019), The Music Man, and Sweeney Todd. On-stage credits include: Candlelight Theatre: Clever Little Lies (Billy), Cabaret (Cliff), Catch Me if You Can (Agent Branton), South Pacific (Commander Harbison), She Loves Me (Sipos), The Drowsy Chaperone (Gangster #1), Crazy for You (Bela Zangler), Camelot (Sir Dinadan), Hairspray (Corny Collins), Monty Python’s Spamalot (Ensemble), Mame (Patrick Dennis), How to Succeed…(Mr. Bratt), Fiddler on the Roof (Perchik). MURRAY HORWITZ is an American playwright, lyricist, radio broadcaster, and arts administrator. In 1973, after moving to New York City, Horwitz appeared in the one-man show, An Evening of Sholom Aleichem, directed by Richard Maltby, Jr. In 1976, Horwitz began working with Maltby to create Ain’t Misbehavin’, featuring the songs of Thomas ‘Fats’ Waller. The show opened on Broadway in 1978, winning multiple awards for Best Musical, including the Tony. Serving as Associate Director, Horwitz also wrote additional lyrics and won Emmy, Grammy, Obie, Tony, and New York Drama Critics’ Circle awards. In 1984, Horwitz wrote the book and directed André De Shield’s Haarlem Nocturne, an original musical revue, and in 1988, he was Associate Director for the Broadway revival of Ain’t Misbehavin’. Horwitz began his career with National Public Radio (NPR) in 1989, where he was instrumental in creating NPR’s game show, Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! In 2002, Horwitz became the founding director of the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center.
